<p>Our current priority is to ship Stylizer 6, and it will ship
first on Windows and Mac. The good news is that we are building
Stylizer 6 on a new cross-platform layer, which will make it much
easier to bring Stylizer to Linux if we have the resources to do
so.</p></div>Andrewtag:service.skybound.ca,2010-06-18:Comment/295400592014-08-19T21:18:27Z2014-08-19T21:18:29ZLinux Version<div><p>As soon as you have a Linux version, you will have me as a

Really hope you do have the resources to do it as it's such an

windows version installed in my machine. But the rebooting is
really anoying and i would be really happy to get rid of windows
once for all. I would even pay again for Stylizer if there is a
Linux version released.</p></div>Guidotag:service.skybound.ca,2010-06-18:Comment/295400592014-12-10T03:37:31Z2014-12-10T03:37:32ZLinux Version<div><p>Another +1 for a Linux version. After years of gritting my teeth

Stylizer keeps me having installed a Windows + VirtualBox Linux
tandem. A stylizer linux version would be very much
appreciated!</p></div>Alex Nitschetag:service.skybound.ca,2010-06-18:Comment/295400592015-08-25T17:59:10Z2015-08-25T17:59:11ZLinux Version<div><p>I think a linux version would probably go very very far.
Stylizer is hands down the best by far CSS editor and Linux is
known as the developers OS. Would make Linux a major player to have
great software like this available for it.</p>
<p>Also, with the recent goofiness of windows 10, Im still on 7, I
see more people looking for alternatives to Microsoft.</p>
<p>Just curious what the main hindrance from this would be? Could
we start a fundraiser? Serious!</p>
<p>Also, is anyone able to run Stylizer using WINE without
issues?</p></div>Andrew Mabrytag:service.skybound.ca,2010-06-18:Comment/295400592015-09-05T04:15:12Z2015-09-05T04:15:12ZLinux Version<div><p>Our focus for the next major release of Stylizer is adding
real-time SASS support. This will benefit literally everyone who
uses Stylizer and has been extremely highly requested.</p>
<p>Nevertheless we know there are a lot of people waiting for a
native Linux version, and that some of you have been waiting for
many years. We made strides when we rewrote the code base for
version 6, anticipating a future Linux release.</p>
<p>Major outstanding items at this time in order to bring Stylizer
to Linux:</p>
<ol>
<li>The UI framework needs to be ported to Linux (currently it's
Windows and Mac only)<br></li>
<li>The browser plugins need to be rebuilt for Linux<br></li>
<li>Building, testing, packaging and updating</li>
</ol>
<p>The truth is we've never shipped a Linux product before (though
that won't stop us). In general we are anal about UI conventions,
and I expect that customizing Stylizer to fit into the Linux UI
paradigm will be a work item of unknown quantity. I remember when
we aimed to ship Stylizer 4 on Mac, and failed. Stylizer 5 was the
first version to run natively on Mac, and even then it didn't feel
much like a Mac application at all. Stylizer 6 now feels much
closer to a native Mac application on Mac. So it took 3 versions to
get there, and while I hope we do better than that for Linux, it's
still a question mark.</p>
<p>Finally, adding Linux support will also significantly increase
our testing surface area, which will increase the time it takes to
deliver each update. Currently we test on every Windows release
from Vista to 10, as well as OS X from Lion to Yosemite. That's
already 8 platforms (not to mention 32 and 64-bit variants of
Windows, different versions of Internet Explorer, different display
DPIs, and the list goes on). Keep in mind that we need to test all
the browser plugins on all these platforms as well, since they tend
to break more often than Stylizer itself.</p>
<p>None of these things are particularly difficult, but each
requires a time investment and we need to weigh that against the
benefit of other features being requested. I can't make any
promises, but to keep hope alive, I'll say that at this point it
looks like a Linux beta could appear at some point during the
lifetime of the next major version.</p></div>Andrewtag:service.skybound.ca,2010-06-18:Comment/295400592015-09-09T15:41:24Z2015-09-09T15:41:24ZLinux Version<div><p>Review of Windows 10, case for Linux</p></div>Andrew C. I dumped windows long ago and have been a loyal Mac user, but MacOSX may be going in some bad directions.
